Medals are awarded during times of war to persons who contribute to the war effort in different manners. In my family my great-grandfather was awarded the British War Medal (1914-1918) for his service in the Maltese Labour Corps while my grandfather was awarded three medals for his service in the Merchant Navy. I considered it appropriate to include this material on this site as a sign of respect towards my ancestors.
